Coric genders
While looking through lgbtqia.wiki, I stumbled upon coric xenogenders.
Those are nonbinary genders which are based on ‘core aesthetics’.
Yeah – I probably had the same expression as you do. Wondering, “what? How’s that even supposed to work? How can you have a gender, let’s say, based on fairies?”
I may not get how that’s supposed to work exactly, but think about it:
How do genders work?
(Genders, not sexes.)
Firstly, let’s focus on the binary genders, male and female.
Both have associated terms to them.
Male/masculinity is: sports, technology, rough work in the outdoors, assertiveness, competition, protectiveness, black, navy, forest green, etc.
While female/femininity is: being cute or sexy (or both), pink, pastels, gentleness, charm, fashion, love, beauty, flowers, makeup, domestic duties, etc.
Almost all of these words also have their own aesthetics. Thus, male and female is basically a group of aesthetics.
Nonbinary may be an umbrella term, but thanks to meme cultures, it also has associated things. For example, androginity, gremlins, grunge, comfort fashion, etc.
As I understand it, those coric xenogenders may just be making things more specific (especially since nonbinary/transgender is an umbrella term and such a vast spectrum).
Going back to the fairies example, what are fairies associated with?
Wings, sparkles, pixie/fairy dust
Pastel colours, yellow, pink, blue, green, white, cream, earth tones
Tranquility, appreciating old fairytales and folklore, remembering childhood
nature, soft pastels, butterflies, magic, flowers, soft animals like bunnies, springtime vibes.
Fairycore often features feminine visuals, while the more masculine equivalent is sometimes referred to as Elfcore.
Thus, fairycore might be basically a more specific Fingender.
Still confused?
Even if I or you don’t understand it, it doesn’t hurt us when someone identifies as aesthetics, so there’s no need to throw hate. Only when their identity actively pains you, your environment and/or closed ones, you should stop them. Other than that, life’s too short to worry about stuff that ain’t harmful.
